Aidpage group discussing "help with rent"...

posted on Mar 12, 2008 (modified on Feb 12, 2008)

Feel free to participate in this public group space.

Two easy ways to do this:

  1. Add a comment or a question here - on this page... or on any other page in this space.
  2. Or, if you want to start a separate thread - make a new page.

Either way is good - the important thing is your participation. On Aidpage, people support each other by speaking out and by paying attention to each other - as simple as that.

I know that the Salvation Army has a food pantry. They also help with rent if they have the funds. Here in Akron, Ohio, they have an agency called Greenleaf that is a counseling agency that has a car loan place for people starting out. You pay the loan back a little at a time. Also, Goodwill has car dealerships that people can get a car for as little as nothing or for nothing at all. YWCA has a clothing closet that helps with clothes for women who need clothing for interviews and/or work. Also, AT&T and Amertech has phone plans for low income individuals. Catholic Churches might be a option for her to approach to help her get back on her feet.

fIRST OFF good for you!! I wished i had help like that many of times. Check with salvation army, and goodwill reguarding a car. Maybe even consider posting something on a site like craigslist and see if someone would be willing to give or sell at a low price or with very small payments. I dont know if this helps you any but i hope... Ill keep my eyes open.

We recently moved a homeless 22 year old into a trailer on our property. She has no car, making it almost impossible for her to get a good job. She works as a waitress right now but with no phone it is hard to keep her schedules and find rides to work. We would like to know if you know of any agencies that will help her with rent, a car, groceries, etc. She seems to be trying to get her life in shape. Her parents died when she was young so she lived with a grandparent until grandparent died.

thank you.

I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right place. I don't know how this works, but i'm praying for a miracle. I need $1000 immediatly to keep from being evicted from my appartment.

My situation is probably similar to many others, my husband and I were laid off and out of work for 4 months. We certainly looked for work, but there was nothing for months. We are now working full time and slowly getting back on track. But we were so behind on so many bills that every penny we make is going to pay them back before utilities get shut off and we lose our car. We are in a bad place.

Our apartment complex has been very helpful, but they have done all they can do. I have never been in this situation and I don't know how to get the money. I would even be willing to work out a payment plan over the next month since my husband and I get paid every week, if someone could lend us the funds. We are just so desperate. We don't know where to turn or what to do.

my email is eguzewich@yahoo.com. If anyone can help or knows of someone who can help, please email me. Thank you so much
